About Sun Raven

Practical support for facilities accommodating Native American religious practice, from someone who does this work every day.

Our approach

SunRaven supports prisons and jails that need to accommodate Native American religious practice with care and consistency. The work is practical: helping staff understand what a request means, how to respond, and how ceremony, sacred items, and security can coexist.

Training is built for groups — academy classes and facility teams — not one-off consumer courses. The goal is staff who know what to do on the next shift, and facilities that meet their obligations without unnecessary friction.

Meet Atsatsa Antonio

Atsatsa Antonio is a Native American Religious Coordinator working in a correctional setting, where he facilitates spiritual practices and administers religious accommodation policy. Over eight years in this field, he has taught roughly 150 correctional academy students and delivered seven professional trainings.

He holds a professional certification from a traditional practitioners' association and is a member of the Diné Hataałii Association.

SunRaven grew out of what he saw firsthand: staff who wanted to do the right thing but had never been taught how.

Why this work matters

Religious practice is a protected right, and it is also one of the most effective tools for rehabilitation and facility stability. When staff understand requests, fewer situations escalate, and fewer facilities face grievances or litigation. Good accommodation takes training, not guesswork.

Our commitments

Practicality

Content built for security, schedules, and real constraints.

Lawfulness

Guidance aligned with the legal framework facilities operate under — RLUIPA, the First Amendment, and agency policy.
